1. Types Of Acne

Acne can classify into two forms, inflammatory and non-inflammatory.

Whiteheads and blackheads are non-inflammatory. Both are similar and start with a clogged pore. Blackheads are oxidised melanin, where sebum is exposed to oxygen as the pore is slightly open, therefore turning black. Whiteheads are closed pores, so the sebum remains yellow or white. Only when bacteria enters a whitehead or blackhead, it becomes inflammatory Acne. Inflammatory Acne is when bacteria infect clogged pores, which leads to the immune system reacting to fight off the bacteria, resulting in inflammation.

Types of inflammatory Acne include:

Papules - Small red bumps on your skin surface

Pustules - raised skin bumps containing pus

Nodules - large, hard bumps deeper in your skin

Cysts - large, soft, fluid-filled lumps beneath your skin

2. Areas of Facial Acne

Certain areas of the face may be more prone to acne breakouts for different reasons.

Mapping the facial regions and the possible causes is an effective way to start treating your Facial Acne.
